Teacher’s Workshop August 2019
First of all, Huge Thanks to Vipin, Venkat Rao uncle & Nagaraju for taking care of all the logistics for the meeting!
In addition to the monthly Skype calls started in 2018, this face to face session with all the teachers was very successful in personally connecting to all the new and current teachers. We first level set expectations, Shared guidelines, and explained how to establish targets for each class. Also provided clarifications requested and explained our goal to bring standardization/consistency among all the teachers. A common location/ webpage on awarnessusa will be provided to all the teachers to save the students work.
One to one mentor was assigned for all new teachers joined – Mentors will be calling/ checking with their assigned teacher at least on a weekly basis to help them where needed. This will be tracked for a 3 month period and purpose is: mentor/ current teacher shares his/her experience and guide the new teachers to be most productive as quickly as possible.
First two competitions were discussed in detail and shared the expectation that teachers must ensure all the students learn/practice to get to the level of the winners – leverage the website, winning projects and students to teach.
Competition project #3 was explained in detail as this combines 3 tools -MS Word, excel & PowerPoint. Per teachers suggestion, decided to add junior level competition for 7 th grade also.
